The challenge

Consistency at scale

A broad digital estate needed a more consistent, reusable approach to design, reducing variation and repeated effort across teams.

My role

Owning the design system roadmap

I owned the design system roadmap and feature priorities, leading the direction of a shared design capability in collaboration with designers and engineers. I determined which foundations and components to address, balancing immediate delivery needs with consistency and long-term maintainability.

What changed

Shared foundations

The Figma design system was completed as a shared source of truth. Translating the system into coded CMS components was identified as the next stage; it should not be described as completed without confirmation.

Evidence

Efficiency and adoption

I am not permitted to retain or publish Baillie Gifford internal artefacts or supporting metrics. This is a narrative account of my role and decisions; any diagrams on this page must be original, generic explanations rather than recreations of confidential material.
